One UI 9 test builds are already floating around and that's giving us an opportunity to have an early look at some of the new features Samsung is working on.
Since the company is leaning heavily into AI these days, it goes without saying that a lot of new features will have some AI aspect to them. A new report indicates that the Samsung Internet browser will get a new “Ask AI” feature in One UI 9.
Ask AI will help justify your shopping decisions
The feature, spotted by AndroidAuthority, appears to be an addition to the Browsing Assist capability that already exists in Samsung Internet. Browsing Assist helps with webpage summaries, reading them out loud, and more.
The Samsung Internet browser in One UI 9 test firmware has references to an “Ask AI” feature. The accompanying details reveal that you'll be able to use this feature to ask AI about webpages and other topics.
When you ask a question, the feature will process not just the page content but also your browsing history to provide answers. For example, if you're shopping for new shoes online, you could ask a question where the AI looks at not just the brand website you're on but also those that you've previously visited to answer your question about sizes, materials, price, etc.
Ask AI will give you the option to either retain the conversation history for the duration of the session or for up to 3 days, suggesting that there's an element of privacy built into the feature as well.
It's still early days for One UI 9 as we don't anticipate it would be released before the second half of this year, likely with Samsung's new foldable phones. Nevertheless, these leaks show that it's shaping up to be a promising upgrade.
